> Calling Services from an Instance

This topic describes how you can authorize instances to call services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure .

Introduction

This procedure describes how you can authorize an instance to make API calls in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services. After you set up the required resources and policies, an application running on an instance can call Oracle Cloud Infrastructure public services, removing the need to configure user credentials or a configuration file.

The following services support access by instances:

Any user who has access to the instance (who can SSH to the instance), automatically inherits the privileges granted to the instance. Before you grant permissions to an instance using this procedure, ensure that you know who can access it, and that they should be authorized with the permissions you are granting to the instance.

The following steps summarize the process flow for setting up and using instances as principals. The subsequent sections provide more details.

Create a dynamic group . In the dynamic group definition, you provide the matching rules to specify which instances you want to allow to make API calls against services.

Create a policy granting permissions to the dynamic group to access services in your tenancy (or compartment).

A developer in your organization configures the application built using the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure SDK to authenticate using the instance principals provider. The developer deploys the application and the SDK to all the instances that belong to the dynamic group.

The deployed SDK makes calls to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure APIs as allowed by the policy (without needing to configure API credentials).

For each API call made by an instance, the Odomolor Womens HighHeels Frosted Solid Buckle PointedToe PumpsShoes LightGray 39 tYw2Aguh0h
logs the event, recording the OCID of the instance as the value of principalId in the event log.

Perform these tasks to enable an instance to call services:

After you have created a dynamic group, you need to create policies to permit the dynamic groups to access Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services.

In addition to the common worker configuration options, the following are available in standalone mode.

The file to store connector offsets in. By storing offsets on disk, a standalone process can be stopped and started on a single node and resume where it previously left off.

Distributed workers that are configured with matching values automatically discover each other and form a cluster. All workers in the cluster must also have access to and use the same three Kafka topics to share connector configurations, offset data, and status updates, and so all worker configurations must have matching , , and properties. As each distributed worker starts up, it will simply use these topics if they already exist; if not, it will attempt to create the topics using these and other topic-specific options described below. This allows you to manually create these topics before starting Kafka Connect if you require other advanced topic-specific settings or when Kafka Connect does not have the ACL privileges to create the topics . If you do create the topics manually, be sure to follow the guidelines listed below.

In addition to the common worker configuration options, the following options may be specified in the properties file passed to the Connect worker when started in distributed mode as shown AgooLar Womens Laceup Round Closed Toe Kitten Heels Imitated Suede Low Top Boots Black dDogmDddR

A unique string that identifies the Connect cluster group this worker belongs to.

The name of the topic where connector and task configuration data are stored. This be the same for all workers with the same . Kafka Connect will upon startup attempt to automatically create this topic with a single-partition and compacted cleanup policy to avoid losing data, but it will simply use the topic if it already exists. If you choose to create this topic manually, always create it as a compacted topic with a single partition and a high replication factor (3x or more).

always

The replication factor used when Kafka Connects creates the topic used to store connector and task configuration data. This should always be at least 3 for a production system, but cannot be larger than the number of Kafka brokers in the cluster.

The name of the topic where connector and task configuration offsets are stored. This be the same for all workers with the same . Kafka Connect will upon startup attempt to automatically create this topic with multiple partitions and a compacted cleanup policy to avoid losing data, but it will simply use the topic if it already exists. If you choose to create this topic manually, always create it as a compacted, highly replicated (3x or more) topic with a large number of partitions (e.g., 25 or 50, just like Kafka’s built-in topic) to support large Kafka Connect clusters.
